About David Whitlock
For more than twenty years
David B. Whitlock, Ph.D. has been encouraging people with a powerful
message of hope that tells people they can become all they are meant to
be as they find themselves in Jesus Christ. His message reminds
people that God has good plans of success for them. It's a message
that David has learned from his own life and one he is helping people
apply to their lives.
Born the youngest of four
boys, David's father was a dentist and his mother a homemaker. At
the age of six David and his older brother, Doug, were in a car accident
together. Doug, eighteen months older than David and his constant
companion, was killed in that accident. That tragic event, along
with the death of his grandmother less than a year later, led young
David to ask about the eternal nature of things. In time, as a
result of his questions as a child experiencing the loss of loved ones,
David made a decision to become a follower of Jesus Christ.
During his adolescent years,
David traveled with his parents to various countries where David's
father, a dentist, and mother volunteered their time to help others.
Those travels took David to Zimbabwe, Yemen, India, and the Dominican
Republic. Not only did David enjoy a wide-range of experiences,
but he gained a knowledge and appreciation for the beliefs of others.
David preached his first public sermon in Bangalore, India, when he was
a senior in high school.
David graduated from Baylor
University (B.A.), Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div.),
Princeton Theological Seminary (M.Th.), and Southern Baptist Theological
Seminary (PhD). David has ministered in churches in Texas,
Oklahoma, Alabama, Louisiana, and Kentucky. He has also
participated in mission work in Honduras.
In 2000, David founded David
Whitlock Ministries, Inc. His desire was to help people find and
reach their full potential. This ministry has expanded David's
efforts to reach people with the positive message of hope in Jesus
Christ.
Since 2002, David has been
pastor of Lebanon Baptist Church in Lebanon, Kentucky. In
addition, David teaches in the Theology Department at Campbellsville
University in Campbellsville, Ky. He also finds time to be the
Chaplain for the local high school football team, where his son Dave
plays center.
In 1981 David married Katri
Hudspeth. They had two children, Mary-Elizabeth (now 17) and David
Jr. (now 15). Katri succumbed to a six year battle with cancer in
2003, and since then David has remarried. David and Lori Whitlock
(the former Lori Wilburn, David's high school sweetheart) have four
children: Mary-Elizabeth, David Jr., Harrison (age 15) and Madison
(age 13). In 2005, David adopted Harrison and Madison, and the
Whitlock's currently reside in Lebanon, Kentucky. When David is
not speaking, writing, or teaching, he is spending time with his family.
David's warm and inviting
style captures his audience's attention as well as their hearts.
He enthusiastically communicates his conviction that people can find
God's positive purpose for them and live a truly successful life.
